This evening at BNC we had a Leadership Advance. Shannon invited the staff from all campuses, stewardship team members, servant leaders and their spouses to hang out and hear what was on his heart. Bottom line, when Shannon shares from his heart, its good. I took lots of notes…I’ve highlighted my particular favorites…

• “3 years ago, to the day, was the first time the phrase ‘Welcome to Brand New Church’ was said!”
• Transparency - our greatest strength and greatest weakness
  • Concerning discomfort? - What’s not working?
  • Buy-in - What gives your people buy-in to the vision?
  • Connectivity - How do you know that the organization is connected enough to know if someone is bought in? How are things communicated throughout your organization?
  • Projects - What are things that need to happen right now to move you forward?
  • Identify Who the Leader Is - The leader is who goes to hell and back with you……and then does it again.
  • We will no longer be about merely managing crisis and keeping mental happiness!
• Are you a leader? A leader:
  • Has the Ability to Grow
    • Growing spiritually
    • Growing martially
    • If you’re not growing, the enemy will have a foothold in your life.
  • Doesn’t desire to be liked, but to make the right decision
  • Doesn’t introduce your fears to your kids but share with them the possibilities of what is in them!
  • Sees opportunities in little windows.
    • If you have a big window, then you can create the outcome.
    • “I have been paralyzed by what I know, instead of what God knows!”
    • Seldom does an opportunity come to you in a big window. You can’t reach out and grab it, you can usually only see it through a small window.
  • Unbinds themselves from the ordinary.
    • Remember when the first time you started your job? That passion? That isn’t ordinary!
    • God always does thing in extra-ordinary ways!
  • Is generous.
  • Respects the differences.
    • We will not be a church obsessed with saving the saved, we will be a church obsessed with the lost!
• Are you ready?

We are in the “Por-No: How to Say No To Porn” series at Brand New Church right now. This is the second round of the Porn-No series and in the first round we started each week with a video of some stats from the porn industry. Well, in the second round of Por-No we’ve created more porn stat videos with even better stats.

I’m starting a new blog. Looking for a cool name.
