Victim of Marketing

Posted June 29th @ 6:26 pm by Jeff Riles

I am a victim of marketing.
I saw a commercial for Red Lobster the other day while just sitting on my couch.
I got a craving.
Grabbed my friends.
Ate at Red Lobster and spent $20.00 on dinner.
While eating their chilled salad, I realized, I was a victim of marketing.

YouVersion: the Bible meets global community

Posted June 27th @ 4:26 pm by Zach Gilliam

A project that the digerati team has been fervently working on for the past few weeks was officially announced the other day over at Swerve.

Go read about the project, it is a truly revolutionary way of looking at the Bible. I like to think of it as:
(Facebook + Flickr + YouTube + Wikipedia) x (the […]

iPhone: Eating my words?

Posted June 26th @ 11:33 pm by Zach Gilliam

So, it looks like Apple is going to make me eat my words about the iPhone. (This is one of those times when I am actually completely fine with being wrong!)
Mary Jo Foley at ZD Net (and several others) has reported that the iPhone will support server ActiveSync, allowing it to sync with Microsoft Exchange […]

Vacation!!

Posted June 26th @ 10:40 pm by Zach Gilliam

This week I’m in the Big Apple on vacation. Woo-hoo!

(Times Square view from my hotel room)
I’m going to be taking pictures and uploading them to my Flickr account throughout the trip.

In the downtime, I’m reading Wikinomics by Don Tapscott and Anthony Williams. It’s really good stuff. I’ll have some great pieces of […]

“Times Like These”

Posted June 26th @ 2:07 pm by Jeff Riles

One of my favorite songs is called “Times Like These” by the Foo Fighters. Everyday, and every second is new. Check out this post that inspired me this week.
I am here on earth in times like these. Why? I’m not sure, but I’ve found a couple of things worth living for:
My God - his raw […]

Intensity

Posted June 25th @ 10:54 am by Jeff Riles

Balance.
In every leadership class I’ve ever taken they talk about finding a balance in your life. Every leader I’ve heard talk about about leadership talks about finding a good balance between your work life and your home life. My advisors at school always say, “Jeff, make sure you are getting a good balance and don’t […]

Christians defined.

Posted June 23rd @ 12:14 pm by Jeff Riles

I am a political science major … just a reminder.
In my class this week we had to make a clear distinction between:
“nominal Christians” and practicing Christians
We defined nominal Christians as those who call themselves a Cristian because there parents were, grandparents were, or because they go to church on Easter or Christmas. They look like […]

The Onion’s take on the iPhone

Posted June 23rd @ 1:43 am by Zach Gilliam

The Onion did a pretty funny parody of some iPhone specs. Check it out.

I think this helps summarize the iPhone hype. We will see if it lives up to the 90% positive hype. I’m gonna call it now, I don’t think it will. WHOA! Yes, I know it is blasphemous, but I think that the […]

As for you …

Posted June 21st @ 1:40 pm by Jeff Riles

As for you Hillary Clinton - quit lying to America. Not only did you vote for the war in Iraq, you voted against an attempt by your own party to try and get President Bush to have more diplomacy before going into Iraq. Furthermore, you went to Baghdad right before election season and came back […]
