Christians defined.

Posted June 23rd @ 12:14 pm by Jeff Riles

I am a political science major … just a reminder.

In my class this week we had to make a clear distinction between:
“nominal Christians” and practicing Christians

We defined nominal Christians as those who call themselves a Cristian because there parents were, grandparents were, or because they go to church on Easter or Christmas. They look like the average American.

We defined practicing Christians as those who attended church regularly and we made a clear distinction that there was a “missional” sense to them.

We were talking about voting trends.

One of my friends calls himself a Cafeteria Catholic - he likes to pick and choose what he likes about Catholicism.

Jesus asked his disciples, “Who do you say I am?”

How do you define the difference between a “nominal Christian” and a “practicing Christian?”
