So, it looks like Apple is going to make me eat my words about the iPhone. (This is one of those times when I am actually completely fine with being wrong!)
Mary Jo Foley at ZD Net (and several others) has reported that the iPhone will support server ActiveSync, allowing it to sync with Microsoft Exchange server. (No word on whether it will be push or not, but I imagine it will be…) While not as huge as a Blackberry Connect feature, this does open up the door for an enterprise use among business users.
Walt Mossberg also said that after a few days of use, he was able to tap out the same WPM that he was on his Treo. If this is true, then again, Apple will have changed my mind about the entire device. However, several others have said that the keyboard is actually as bad as most of us imagined. We will probably have to wait until Friday for the final verdict on this one.
With Activesync being supported and the keyboard working well, I would actually consider purchasing one once it supports 3G (version 2.0 I’m assuming). We shall see this Friday - luckily there is an ATT store right down the street from my hotel. I hope they will have some demo units available.

Funny - WE HATE THE iPHONE cause it only works with Exchange via STANDARDS-BASED protocols THAT EXCHANGE SUPPORTS (IMAP)
Silly - Now that the iPhone can connect to Exchange via protocols licensed from Microsoft, IT ROCKS!
Dudes, if you don’t see the irony in this, step back for a sec and try again to see it…
