Do you remember when you graduated High School and you got to get away from your parents? It was absolutely amazing!
Why were we so anxious to get away from them? Well for starters, they always annoyed me with these responsibility speeches, constantly complained about he way you were doing things, and always compared you to other people!
One of my really close friends was in my room talking about his life, and why he is so driven: constantly studying, working so hard, never resting - he eventually broke down and started crying about his mother.
This struck a chord with me.
No one has perfect parents. In fact, inĀ a lot of cases - parents can do more harm than good - all in the name of love.
The biggest transitions:
1) Our parents are just regular, ordinary people like you and me. - they struggle, they hurt, they have pain, and passion and a set of life experiences that drive them
2) They really have given me so much. Time, money, love, anger, passion, stories, experiences, knowledge, wisdom.
Now, what I used to see as bickering, I see as them trying to love me. And, I hope when they hear my annoying sarcastic responses, they see it as me loving them back ![]()
