Papers, Papers, and ePapers

Posted August 23rd @ 10:38 am by Jeff Riles

I now in my upper level courses have to write at least 2 papers a week. IT SUCKS! But I love what I’m studying.

This does ironically bring up this issue of being environmentally friendly - ok, not really, I just want my classes to be more web based! And thank God, one of the classes that I have to write an essay per week is.

My Juvenile Delinquency class is completely web based, other than actually being in class, all of the course work is submitted online using eCollege and OCUonline. The syllabus is there, the lecture notes are there, the presentations are there, the videos are there, my assignments are there, videos are there, and we actually together use our computers to engage in learning. And the greatest part, I don’t have to print out a single paper - and that truly is environmentally friendly. Tell me how cool that is!!

Speaking of being environmentally friendly I was extremely disappointed when I arrived at OCU and discovered that there was nowhere to recycle plastic bottles. There’s a place to recycle paper, aluminum cans, ink cartridges, even cell phones. But nowhere for plastic bottles?! What’s with that?

That’s very good to here. I was on the Student Senate part of the OCU website last night about to write an angry e-mail but I guess I don’t have to do that now. haha. Thanks for the info, hopefully it happens soon. Me and my roommate have been keeping a box full of plastic bottles in my closet trying to find somewhere to recycle them.
