I am still registered as an independent. Although, at many times I have thought about registering as a Democrat. But here’s the problem:
On the Daily Show (yes, I love it - and so should you) with John Stewart, he had on an author who was discussing his book over conservatives being compassionate. He had a quote that stuck with me:
“I am not an advocate for the Democrats. When Katrina happened, I was in the White House. The Republicans were to worried about how to pay for it, and the Democrats were too busy looking for someone to blame.”
So true. Government - big or small, pro-gay rights or anti gay rights, pro war or anti war, should always be a vehicle and a force of good and compassion. When they forget the governed, they aren’t governing at all.
