May the next 100 years be as great as the last!

It is sweet.
Independent
I am still registered as an independent. Although, at many times I have thought about registering as a Democrat. But here’s the problem:
On the Daily Show (yes, I love it - and so should you) with John Stewart, he had on an author who was discussing his book over conservatives being compassionate. He had a quote that stuck with me:
“I am not an advocate for the Democrats. When Katrina happened, I was in the White House. The Republicans were to worried about how to pay for it, and the Democrats were too busy looking for someone to blame.”
So true. Government - big or small, pro-gay rights or anti gay rights, pro war or anti war, should always be a vehicle and a force of good and compassion. When they forget the governed, they aren’t governing at all.
IMAP for GMAIL…whoa
Wow, this is huge! About the only complaint that most people had about Gmail was the lack of IMAP access. Sure, POP3 is ok, but IMAP access makes Gmail an universal option for everyone. IMAP allows you to store all of your mail on the server and it keeps read status across all of your IMAP devices. If it is available with Google apps, then I’ll have to consider it for my zgilliam.com email…
Handling Criticism
Ran across this article by Craig Groeschel this morning about handling criticism.
Craig’s article definitely gives some good insight into how to handle criticism that I am taking to heart. This is something that I have to continuously remember, because naturally I don’t handle criticism very well. ![]()
Happy Birthday Google!

Terrorism a marketing problem?
I woke up this morning and headed to the gym, forgetting that it was in fact September 11 … Tuesday September the 11th nonetheless. And I was bombarded with the news:
As I went to the gym, the TVs were all turned on with news stations covering the memorials, as well as the issue of troop withdrawal.
After I showered and sat down at my computer, the front page of the Washington Post was about 9/11, and the issues of troop withdrawn with General Petraeus.
As I went to get my coffee before class, I picked up the NY Times, and there it was again, coverage of 9/11 and the war.
Then, as I’m not paying attention in class, but reading some blogs, I am came across probably the best thing I have seen or read on the issues of today.
Its a post by the famous marketer Seth Godin about how we can truly combat terrorism with marketing. Sounds interesting right? He examines how the FBI and the NYPD (who recently released a controversial report) practically eradicated bank robbery through marketing. Even more than that, it gives me passion about this “ideavirus.” Can ideas really help us win this war?
